Awkward silences in Northern Ireland are longer than in London.
The difference in length will vary, naturally, however there is unquestionable evidence to show that on average the length of an awkward silence is appoximately 50% longer in the love country.

that's really interesting about the silences, do you believe it? i would have thought that in england the silences would have been longer as we speak quicker than english people....or perhaps the silences are the same length and its because we speak quicker that the silences appear longer. its all relative?
or maybe you merely thought they were silences but in fact we use our abilities to read each other's minds to communicate instead, you know, telepathically. the silences probably appear long to you because we have to concentrate so hard. it is thought that the water in london prohibits this ability from developing from an early age. if you get out of london right now you could probably rectify this situation and enjoy more of the lovely northern irish patter. ballygowan all the way.
