Guatemala is beautiful and so are the people

We're saying in a town called San Pedro, its at the foot of an inactive volcano by the shores of an enormous lake. Today we went out on kayaks to a beach with black sand and tried to catch some fish to eat for tea. It is so beautiful here, as we were making our way back to town the light was coming down in shafts onto the volcano, it was so beautiful, also the stars are so clear here. We're staying in a hostel with a lot of pot smoking hippies who have arrived here and got stuck, they've been living in the hostel for 5 months now. It seems that happens to a lot of people who come here.

The locals wear amazing woven clothes in bright colours and have beautiful faces. The women try and sell us banana bread all day long and the men encourage us to go horse riding. We're going to go tomorrow. They bathe in the lake, its the first time I've seen that.

They rely on tourists so much that when hurricane Stan was threatenening they government airlifted all the tourists out, they really can't afford to lose their business.

Its amazing, we are being well looked after by no-one in particular.
